The courtyards of Córdoba are the highest expression of Córdoba's culture and tradition, they were declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2012. What makes them so interesting? The immense beauty that dazzles us at our entrance to the patio, but above all, because of its
cultural importance. These patios are located inside many of the private houses found in the historic center of the city. The origin of the original structure of these houses is found in the Roman-era house, which was later remodeled in the Islamic era and which has survived to this day
.After the industrial revolution, with the massive arrival in the capital of people who previously lived in the fields or farms outside the city, residents were forced to share the different spaces of the house, becoming an example of coexistence, generosity and solidarity.
They begin to decorate with a wide variety of plants, filling every space with beautiful flowers and turning the patio into wonderful paradisiacal gardens. Each house, each courtyard, has a story to tell us, that of the families that inhabit it and those of the families that inhabited it
for centuries. For this reason, we recommend taking the Patios route with specialized guides, who introduce us to the different houses we are going to visit and who enlighten us with each of the stories we need to know. Only then will we be able to learn in detail one of the oldest traditions of Cordovan culture
