This tour is key to being able to get to know Casco Viejo, its past and its present, to be able to better understand this great city, all in a pleasant way and promoting interaction with the group so that all its members can ask questions, that the tour is dynamic and that it does not become a monologue.
The itinerary will pleasantly surprise you because with it you will discover the most primitive nucleus of Bilbao, constituted as a town in the 14th century, where we will talk about its origins and its evolution over the centuries.
The Casco Viejo has become a meeting point between Bilbao bystanders and tourists who come to see their city.
The seven original streets, together with the new urban layouts that were added over time, house their historical memory and contemporary charm, an explosive mix that everyone likes because of its peculiarity.
During the experience, suggestions are also made about points of interest that you cannot miss and that can be visited on your own, both for lunch and for a pintxo, as well as to go to shops selling typical items, areas with a more local atmosphere, etc.
In it we will meet at the Plaza del Funicular, where we will take this famous means of transport to the viewpoint of Mount Artxanda. From its top we will enjoy excellent views of Bilbao, overlooking the estuary, the Guggenheim Museum, the New San Mamés Stadium, the Iberdrola Tower and other iconic places in the city. If the weather permits, we can get to see the mouth of the estuary.
After learning some interesting facts and historical facts about the buildings and monuments that we will observe from the viewpoint, we will take the funicular back to the city and begin a tour along one of the banks of the estuary to the town hall, then we will enter the Old Town of Bilbao.
On our guided walk through the oldest area, we will approach Plaza Nueva, see the most emblematic churches and discover the famous seven streets. We will finish our route next to the well-known Mercado de la Ribera, where you will find a wide variety of Basque cuisine products.
