After finding ourselves in the vertical garden called Puppy, which represents a dog in monumental size, we will learn about part of the museum's exterior architecture together with a certain contextualization of Bilbao as a way of understanding the origin of the museum in Bilbao.
We will enter the museum and put images of everything that was the Bilbao of yesteryear, contrasting with current photos, we will discuss the execution of the museum's work designed by the internationally renowned architect Frank Ghery, which opened in 1997.
The museum has become the symbol of urban revitalization of the city of Bilbao, from being a polluted and industrial city to what it is today, a cosmopolitan city open to the 21st century.
Inside the museum, in the Atrium that distributes the entire exhibition space, we will admire the grandeur and monumentality of the building inside and we will take a tour focusing on its main masterpieces, acquisitions that the museum has been buying over these 27 years of life, works and installations by Jenny Holzer, the largest room in the museum that goes to Berga, the sculptural and monumental ensemble of the famous sculptor Richard Serra called “the matter of time”, the sculpture “Mom” by Louis Bourgueois, “Tulips” by Jeff Koons, Rising Sea” of The Anatsui, the installation by Yayoi Kusama, Works of American Abstract Expressionism by Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Lee Krasner and others.
Then the temporary exhibitions will be visited, depending on the time they will be visited in detail and if you cannot, the guidelines will be given so that you can then visit them for free.
Once the visit is over, access to the museum is free throughout the day as many times as you want until closing time
